In preparation for the upcoming season I am going to feature one player from every team in the NHL. Goalies are excluded because they’re interesting enough to garner a feature of their own so look forward to that as round 2.
#65 Erik Karlsson – Ottawa Senators – Defense
The Past
Karlsson, Lundqvist, Stalberg, Landeskog…these guys all have something in common other than being current NHL players with long last names. They are all from Sweden and they are all really fucking hot. Seriously, Karlsson is so beautiful it almost makes me uncomfortable.
Karlsson was drafted 15th overall by the Senators in 2008. He played one additional year in Sweden and entered the NHL during the 2009 season. And of course while most 18 year old boys are awkward as hell, Karlsson was already a 10.
The Love
Karlsson is really freaking good. He was an All Star in 2011 and 2012, and won the Viking Award and the Norris Trophy in 2012. The Norris Trophy is awarded to the best defenseman in the league (have I mentioned he’s only 22 years old) and the Viking Award is awarded to the best Swedish player in the league. The 2012 NHL Awards should have been called The Really Hot Swedish Guys Who Are Also Great at Hockey Awards because with Karlsson winning the Norris, Landeskog winning the Calder, and Lundqvist winning the Vezina it was almost more Swedish hockey deliciousness than Saucer could handle.
The Hate
I want to hate him for being so good but I just can’t. He’s a sick player, doesn’t play dirty, and is hot as fuck. What am I supposed to hate?
Yeah, I get it. I’m doing a really shitty job on “The Hate” section. Let’s just call it “The Love Part II” instead.
Let’s Get Scrappy
Karlsson isn’t a big fighter, thank god because we need to protect that face, but he actually got in a real fight during Worlds this year! Actually it was more like 2 fights in 2 minutes.
And even though I screamed “Don’t hit his face,” the entire time it somehow made him even hotter.
Feed the Inner Fangirl/Fanboy
Um, really? Obviously he is super hot but he's also funny and that accent absolutely kills me.
What more can I say? The man is absolutely beautiful.
Let’s Mix in Some Swords
If we’re mixing Karlsson into Game of Thrones I think he would be Loras (although I stand behind Patrick Kane as Loras above all others). He’s extra hot, super charismatic, and literally the best at what he does. However, there is one really obvious difference between Loras and Karlsson…
Erik got married to a smokin hot girl this summer. Congrats buddy; you are officially the hottest married man in the world.
